Welcome to Sundays at St Luke’s Whyteleafe
Whether you’re exploring faith, returning to church after some time away, or simply looking for a welcoming community, you are very welcome at St Luke’s Whyteleafe.
We are a friendly village church near Whyteleafe railway station and next to Whyteleafe Primary School. Our Sunday gatherings combine the richness of traditional worship with warmth, creativity, and a relaxed atmosphere where people of all ages can feel at home.
Sunday service: 9.30am every week
What are Sundays Like?
Celebrating Holy Communion (also called the Eucharist or the Lord’s Supper) is at the heart of our worship. Our services are prayerful and meaningful, while also being relaxed and welcoming. There is no pressure to know what to do — people join in as they feel comfortable.
We sing a mixture of traditional hymns and more modern worship songs, accompanied by organ or keyboard.
Some people come with deep faith, others with curiosity, and many simply looking for connection, reflection, or belonging. Whatever brings you here, you are warmly welcome at St Luke’s Whyteleafe.
What happens on Sundays?
Intergenerational Celebration
Our Intergenerational Celebration brings together children, parents, grandparents, friends, and neighbours in worship that is interactive, thoughtful, and accessible.
Everyone stays together throughout the service, with space to reflect, join in, and explore faith as a community. We aim to create an atmosphere that is engaging, relaxed, and joyful for all ages.
Parish Eucharist
On other Sundays, we celebrate a more traditional Parish Eucharist with hymns, prayers, preaching, and Holy Communion.
Children are invited to take part in their own activities during the service before rejoining the congregation later on.
Across all our worship, we aim to create a space that is open, thoughtful, and grounded in kindness — whether church feels familiar to you or completely new.
Children and Babies
Children and babies are a valued part of church life here — not a distraction.
We warmly welcome people of all ages to our Sunday worship and always have a children’s activity table near the front of the church. Children are free to draw, read, explore activities, and engage with the service in ways appropriate to their age.
We understand that young children sometimes move around, make noise, or become unsettled, and that is completely okay. A church should feel lived-in and joyful. Over time, children naturally grow in confidence and learn how to share the space respectfully with others.
If you are arriving with a buggy, a toddler, or a baby who may cry unexpectedly, please know that you are very welcome here.
Come as You Are
At St Luke’s Whyteleafe, we believe that everyone is made in the image of God and deserves to be welcomed with dignity, kindness, and joy.
Our Vicar, Rev Yin-An Chen, serves as a trustee of the Inclusive Church — a network that advocates for the full inclusion of all people in church life, regardless of sexuality, gender identity, race, ethnicity, disability, mental health, age, or economic background.
Whoever you are, wherever you come from, and whatever questions you carry, there is space for you here.
